Workshop Description

Organizations spend millions each year both building and buying their leadership capability without an essential understanding of what leadership capabilities contribute to their differentiation, how they impact performance and results, or how to establish a program to systematically build/acquire the leaders they need. This Workshop will engage participants in identifying their organization's leadership needs, identifying the leadership capabilities that contribute directly to their organization's value proposition, and outlining how to build an effective program, that a) is not "throwing pre-programmed solutions" at a problem and b) they are able to sell to their senior management.

This highly interactive Workshop uses teamwork, case studies and a modified goal-based scenario approach.

Workshop Objectives

As a result of this program, participants will be able to:
  1. Describe the importance of the relationship between leadership capability and organizational performance
  2. Define how business, role, and performance requirements impact and drive a successful leadership development program.
  3. Identify the leadership competencies there organization requires and how to introduce and measure their contribution to individual, team, and organizational success
  4. Outline an initial leadership development program for their organization that addresses the requirements of its business strategy and is integrated with its talent management systems
  5. Identify additional mitigating factors that will need to be addressed to acquire stakeholder commitment and to sell their plan to senior management
Workshop Design and Content

This Workshop is about learning the process for designing and implementing a Leadership Development Program. Participants will learn how to identify what their organization needs and to leverage the appropriate best practices being used in the leadership development arena.

All of the following topics have multiple components and activities. A Leadership Development Program plan is developed throughout the Workshop, either individually or by the team.
